What is Legends Team Cup?

Legends Team Cup is a global team tennis competition featuring three teams, world-class players, Hollywood celebrity team owners and strategic team captains.

The format combines elite tennis, team identity, captain strategy and a fast match format created for live audiences, TV, partners and digital platforms.

How many teams compete?

Three teams compete in Legends Team Cup:

  • Team AURION
  • Team CAELION
  • Team VALION
Who is part of each team?

Each team consists of :

  • 1 Hollywood celebrity team owner
  • 1 team captain
  • 4 world-class players

The players have previously held a Top 10 ATP ranking and have recently moved on from the ATP Tour.

What are the team identities?

Team AURION represents gold, excellence, legacy, energy and a winning mentality.

Team CAELION represents vision, elevation, precision, calm confidence and strategic performance.

Team VALION represents strength, courage, victory, intensity and fearless competition.

What is the Annual Draft?

The Annual Draft is where the teams are built for the season.

The three team owners and three captains take part in the draft, selecting players from the official player pool and building the rosters for Team Aurion, Team Caelion and Team Valion.

The draft creates competitive balance, new rivalries and fresh storylines for every season.

How does the Annual Draft work?

Before the season begins, the 12 players are placed into an official player pool.

The players may be divided into performance groups based on sporting criteria such as career ranking, current level, playing style, physical readiness and competitive profile.

Each team drafts four players.

The draft is designed to create balanced teams while allowing owners and captains to build a team identity and strategy.

What draft format is used?

The recommended format is a snake draft.

This means the draft order reverses after each round to create balance.

Example:

Round 1: Team 1  |  Team 2  |  Team 3

Round 2: Team 3  |  Team 2  |  Team 1

Round 3: Team 1  |  Team 2  |  Team 3

Round 4: Team 3  |  Team 2  |  Team 1

After four rounds, each team has four players.

Who decides the first pick in the draft?

For the first season, the draft order can be decided by an official draw.

In future seasons, the draft order may be influenced by the previous season’s results, with the lowest-ranked team receiving the first pick to support competitive balance.

What is the match format?

Every match is played over two short sets to 4 games.

At 3–3 in a set, a tiebreak is played.

If the match is tied at 1–1 in sets, a Champions Tiebreak is played to decide the winner.

How many days is a regular Legends Team Cup event?

Each regular event is played over four days.

Days 1–3: Group Stage

Day 4: Event Final

How does the Group Stage work?

During the Group Stage, all three teams compete.

Each day includes:

  • 4 singles matches
  • 1 doubles match
  • 5 matches in total

Every player plays exactly one match per day.

How many players are in action each day?

All 12 players are in action every day.

Each day includes:

*8 players in singles*

*4 players in doubles*

This creates four singles matches and one doubles match.

Can a player play both singles and doubles on the same day?

No !

Each player may play only one match per day.

The team captain decides whether each player is used in singles or doubles.

Who decides who plays singles and doubles?

The team captain decides the daily line-up.

Before play begins each day, every captain submits the team’s line-up.

If the team is scheduled for doubles, the captain selects two players for doubles. The remaining two players compete in singles.

If the team is not scheduled for doubles, all four players compete in singles.

How are the singles match-ups decided?

The singles match-ups are decided through an official draw.

First, the captains submit their daily line-ups.

Then, the Match Office approves the line-ups.

After that, the singles match-ups are created through an official draw within the approved structure.

Does the tournament organisation choose the singles match-ups?

No !

The tournament organisation does not freely choose which players face each other in singles.

The captains select the line-ups.

The Match Office approves them.

The official draw creates the match-ups.

Can the same players face each other more than once?

No !

No player may face the same opponent more than once during the Group Stage.

This applies to both singles and doubles.

If two players face each other in singles, they cannot face each other again later in the Group Stage.

If two players are on opposite sides of a doubles match, that also counts as a match-up.

What happens if the draw creates a repeat match-up?

If the draw creates a match-up where two players have already faced each other earlier in the Group Stage, that draw is void and a new draw is made.

The Match Office is responsible for making sure the draw follows the competition rules.

How many times do the teams meet during the Group Stage?

Each team plays each other team five times during Days 1–3.

Match-Up                  | Singles | Doubles | Total |

AURION vs CAELION  |     4     |    1     |     5     |

CAELION vs VALION  |     4     |     1     |     5     |

VALION vs AURION    |     4     |     1     |     5     |

This creates a balanced Group Stage.

How are team points awarded?

Every match win gives the team: 1 team point

Singles and doubles have the same value.

How many matches are played during the Group Stage?

Across the Group Stage, there are:

  • 5 total matches
  • 12 singles matches
  • 3 doubles matches
How do teams qualify for the Event Final?

After Day 3, the two teams with the most team points advance to the Event Final on Day 4.

What happens if two or three teams are tied after Day 3?

If two teams are tied on team points, the ranking is decided by:

  1. Head-to-head result between the tied teams
  2. Number of sets won
  3. Number of games won
  4. Number of Champions Tiebreaks won
  5. Champions Tiebreak point difference
  6. Deciding Captain’s Tiebreak

If all three teams are tied on team points, the ranking is decided by:

  1. Number of sets won
  2. Number of games won
  3. Number of Champions Tiebreaks won
  4. Champions Tiebreak point difference
  5. Head-to-head result between any remaining tied teams, if applicable
  6. Deciding Captain’s Tiebreak
What is the Deciding Captain’s Tiebreak?

The Deciding Captain’s Tiebreak is used if teams still cannot be separated after all ranking criteria have been applied.

Each captain selects two players from the team.

The tiebreak is played as a doubles Champions Tiebreak to 10 points.

The winner earns the higher position in the standings.

This ensures that the ranking is decided on court, not by random draw.

What happens on Day 4?

Day 4 is the Event Final.

The two highest-ranked teams after the Group Stage compete for the event title.

The Event Final includes:

  • 4 singles matches
  • 1 Championship Doubles
Can the Event Final be won before the final match?

No !

The Event Final is designed so that the title can only be won in the final match: the Championship Match.

The first four singles matches create a sporting advantage, but the title is not awarded until the final Championship Doubles has been played.

What is Championship Doubles?

Championship Doubles is the final match of the Event Final.

It is the match where the event title can be won.

How does the 2026 season work?

In 2026, the Legends Team Cup season consists of:

  • 3 regular events
  • 1 Annual Final Event

The three regular events create the Season Standings.

After the third regular event, the teams are ranked Seed 1, Seed 2 and Seed 3.

What happens if teams are tied in the Season Standings?

If teams are tied in the Season Standings after the three regular events, the ranking is decided by:

  1. Number of event wins
  2. Number of Event Finals reached
  3. Total team points won across all regular events
  4. Sets won across all regular events
  5. Games won across all regular events
  6. Head-to-head results across the season
  7. Deciding Captain’s Tiebreak, if required
How does the Annual Final Event work?

The Annual Final Event features all three teams.

Seed 1 goes directly to the Annual Championship Final.

Seed 2 and Seed 3 play a two-day Final Qualifier.

The winner of the Final Qualifier advances to the Annual Championship Final and faces Seed 1.

What is the Annual Final Event schedule?

Day 1 – Final Qualifier : Seed 2 vs Seed 3

Day 2 – Final Qualifier : Seed 2 vs Seed 3

Day 3 – Annual Championship Final : Seed 1 vs Qualifier Winner

Day 4 – Annual Championship Final : Seed 1 vs Qualifier Winner
