Team Captains, Moyà, Blake and Philippoussis have picked their teams ahead of the opening event in Saint Barthélemy in June
23rd APRIL, LONDON – The draft for the inaugural 2025 season of the Legends Team Cup has concluded, with the three captains selecting their star-studded teams from a pool of 15 tennis legends, setting the stage for an exciting first event in St. Barthélemy this June.
The Legends Team Cup, overseen by patron Björn Borg, is an international tennis series that reunites some of the sport’s most famous figures, providing them with competitive opportunities beyond their ATP tour careers.
The inaugural draft took place behind closed doors last week with team captains, Mark Philippoussis, Carlos Moyà and James Blake building their team to compete in the international series.
The draft order was decided by random draw, with Australian Philippoussis using the first ever Legend Team Cup draft pick on Juan Carlos Ferrero. Moya then followed, selecting former US Open champion Dominic Thiem. With the final pick in the opening round, James Blake selected powerhouse Jo-Wilfred Tsonga. The captains then took it in turns in snake order to select the remaining 12 players who will compete for them throughout the first year of competition.

With a substantial $12 million prize pool and the Björn Borg Trophy at stake, the team format promises to deliver world-class action with a seasonal tour that will captivate fans across six cities in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the United States.
During the draft, 12-time Grand Slam winner and Legends Team Cup Grand Master of Tennis, Björn Borg said “We have three great groups. I’m really looking forward to seeing these guys play, and it’s going to be great tennis, believe me. The players are practicing hard, and when they walk out on that particular tennis court, they won’t want to lose.”
The opening event of the Legends Team Cup will take place on the Caribbean Island of Saint Barthélemy from June 12-14, 2025, where Team Blake will take on Team Philippoussis, followed by New York on 16-18 July. Across the series, captains Moyà, Blake and Philippoussis will each strategically select their matchups ahead of time, ensuring intense competition throughout.
